How to Prepare Your Property for a Power Pod
Getting a Power Pod delivered is a straightforward process, but a little preparation beforehand makes everything go more smoothly on delivery day. Here's exactly what to think about and what to have ready before we arrive.
1. Sort Your Access Route
The first thing we need to do is get the pod onto your property. Before delivery, walk the route from your street to where you want the pod placed and think about:
Gate width — standard gates can be tight. Measure your gate opening and let us know if it's narrow.
Overhead clearance — low branches, powerlines, or pergolas can be an issue. Check the route is clear overhead.
Driveway surface and slope — a very steep or soft driveway can affect delivery. Let us know the situation when you enquire.
Obstacles — temporarily move any vehicles, garden furniture, or stored items from the delivery route.
2. Choose and Prepare Your Placement Spot
You'll need a clear space of at least 5m × 3m (slightly larger than the pod itself) where the cabin will sit. Things to consider:
Level ground — the flatter the better.
Firm ground — soft or waterlogged ground can cause issues. If your section gets boggy, think about whether a base might help.
Sun and shade — a spot with morning sun tends to feel warmer and more pleasant year-round.
Privacy — consider the occupant's privacy from the street, neighbours, and the main house.
Tip
If you're unsure about ground conditions, tell us when you enquire. We can often advise based on your description or photos. In some cases a simple crushed gravel base makes a big difference although is not necessary. A landscaper or handyman can usually do this affordably.
3. Sort Your Power Connection
Power Pods connect via a 16 amp lead with a caravan plug adaptor. Before delivery you'll need to confirm:
There's a power outlet within reasonable reach of where the pod will sit — typically within 20–25 metres
The outlet has capacity for a 16 amp connection (most modern New Zealand homes do)
You know where the outlet is and can show us on delivery day
If you're unsure about your power setup, a registered electrician can check and confirm quickly — usually in a short visit.
4. On Delivery Day

We need someone to confirm placement and sign off on the delivery.2. Have the access route clear
Move vehicles, clear the driveway, and make sure the placement spot is free of obstacles.3. Know where your power outlet is
We'll connect the pod once it's in position — knowing where the outlet is speeds this up.4. Check in with us if anything has changed
